the source

sorry about the lack of updates... i've been swamped by schoolwork. spring break should give me enough time to blog to my heart's content.

if any of you guys are looking for a source of good music, musicfromtheoc.com is a good place to start. unlike the show, which has tended to be hit-and-miss this entire season, the music on the show is always a knockout. they have an excellent musical director who manages to mesh together well known artists like the killers and modest mouse with relatively obscure gems, like aqueduct. the weekly mix usually reads like an indie snob's wet dream, typically dropping such names as rilo kiley, the thrills, zero seven, eliot smith, and iron & wine. warner brothers has also released 3 excellent mixes, with a fourth on the way. here's to hoping the show will eventually live up to its impeccable soundtrack.

blah

the grammys were a little more palpable this year.

the good:
-U2 makes a well deserved homecoming
-wilco wins best alternative music album
-green day takes home best rock album
-garden state wins best compilation soundtrack
-kanye west is still so damn arrogant

the bad:
-franz ferdinand and the killers get passed over
-maroon 5 beats out kanye west for best new artist
-britney wins a grammy. who's judging this thing?
-they still favor dead guys
-its still so damn boring

the ugly:
-marc antony and j. lo. 'nuff said.

this is a worthless post.

cool video

here's a cool video of ben gibbard (of death cab and postal service fame) doing an acoustic version of recycled air at the tsunami relief benefit in san francisco. i guess its technically a cover of the postal service, but since he wrote it, i'm not exactly sure what you call it.

Ben Gibbard - Recycled Air (Live)

you'll need quicktime to watch it. please right-click and "save target as" instead of streaming it so it won't rape my bandwidth.

theres more videos of ben there doing his thing. i reposted this video on a faster server. i hope he doesnt mind.

sorry about the lack of updates.
