best of 2005

for a post that's vaguely music-related:

about a third of the year is over... heres what i think has been the best of the past 4 months.

10. m83 - before the dawn heals us
9. low - the great destroyer
8. thievery corporation - cosmic game
7. the bravery - self titled
6. the chemical brothers - push the button
5. the decemberists - picaresque
4. the arcade fire - funeral
3. bloc party - silent alarm
2. kaiser chiefs - employment
1. stars - set yourself on fire

stars are proof that god loves music. i have never heard pop that sounds so sweet. i've heard that of montreal, death from above 1979, and the new beck album are pretty good, but i haven't had time to listen to them yet. spoon's new album isn't technically out yet, but its pretty good too.

frankly, both of the new bright eyes album were kind of disappointing and overhyped.
